Ruud expected at training

Sir Alex Ferguson expects wantaway striker Ruud van Nistelrooy to report for training on Monday.

The Dutch striker, who expressed his desire to leave the club last Friday, has attracted interest from Real Madrid and Bayern Munich but, with no bids matching United's valuation, a move is yet to materialise.

"Ruud is not definitely leaving and I expect to see him at training on Monday," said Sir Alex.

"I spoke to David Gill on the phone yesterday and there is no development as far as Real Madrid is concerned."

Real have expressed a reluctance to meet United's current price tag for van Nistelrooy, but Ferguson is adamant he would happily prolong the striker's Reds career next season.

"They have made an offer, we have rejected it. That is where the situation lies. If they don't come back in and increase their offer, he won't be going and I would be content with that. It would not bother me one bit.

"He is a striker who can score upwards of 20 goals a season and there are not many of those going around."
